2024 Hoosier Beef Congress Sale Information



Arrival Information:
   • Cattle can arrive after 3 pm on Wednesday, December 4   

   • Must be in place by 12 pm on Thursday, December 5  

Show Information: Friday, December 6 at 3 pm

Sale Information:  Friday, December 6, 30 minutes after completion of the Sale Show


Fees: $75 per head entry fee

Deadline: November 1st for all breeds.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • No horns allowed.  All cattle must be dehorned and healed to be sold through the HBC Sales.
  • All sale cattle must have current valid, individual health papers. Please put each animal on their own sheet.
  • Consignors must be members of the Indiana Beef Cattle Association. Dues must be paid by time of entry.
  • All consignments in the HBC Sale will be required to be in place from 12 pm Thursday for the duration of the sale. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of sale privileges.
  • All consignors will be held responsible for the HBC Code of Conduct.
  • Sale cattle will be shown on Friday, December 6 at 3:00 pm
  • Steers/Market Heifers will show immediately following the heifer show. Sale steers will be shown by weight.
  • HBC sale staff do not guarantee soundness or disposition of consigned animals


  • Sale Management
    • Sale day management to be operated by Willoughby Sales
      • Auctioneer and Ringmen for live sale
      • Clerking Service
      • Banner ad and online marketing
      • Livestreaming technician and service
    • Willoughby Sales to retain a flat 7% of the sale amount
    • Auction will be presented in a live format with an auctioneer & sales staff to be provided by Willoughby’s
    • Online bidding with live streaming will also be accepted through the Willoughby service
    • Live sale to occur in Show Ring 2, 30 minutes after the completion of the Sale Cattle Show on Friday afternoon
    • Settlement
      • Payment to be made day of at the time of purchase following winning bid or at the conclusion of the sale to Willoughby staff; online bidding via standard Willoughby Sales auction agreement

 


  • The sale order for the HBC Sale will be: Grand, Reserve, remaining top animals from the classes. The remaining will be determined by the sale managers.


  • The Grand Champions will be paid $200 and the Reserve Grand Champions will be paid $100.


  • Any steer/market heifer or heifer that goes through the sale and is selected Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion, Supreme or Reserve Supreme in the HBC Junior Show will receive an additional premium of:
         • Grand: $500 to the consignor and $500 to the buyer and
         • Reserve: $300 to the consignor and $300 to the buyer.


  • Purchaser is responsible to present a paid receipt to the Consignor or Breed Representative, within 1 hour of the completion of the sale to obtain ownership of the purchased animal.


  • A consignment to the Heifer and Market Animal Sale does not guarantee that you will have stalls available for your Junior Show cattle in the main barn.  Every effort will be made to accommodate consignors with stalls in the main barn, however, there is no guarantee.
